Nestle Kit Kat Cookies and Cream

I think it's cookies and cream season!

The last two seasonal releases we've seen in the four-finger bar from Kit Kat did not impress me greatly - which is odd as I'm quite a fan of the milk chocolate version. White, from late 2012, was a flop as the white mockolate was the big letdown, and Caramel Duo, from May last year, was just weak-flavoured. Hopefully Cookies and Cream will be the one to lift the game for Kit Kat - even if the flavour is unoriginal!

The National Confectionery Company Squishy Bugs

Jellies with oozy centres aren't new. Way back in 2003, Starburst introduced the " first ever jelly lolly filled with liquid on the Australian market" with their Squirts Crazy Babies. (Although they're not available in Australia, Google indicates Squirts Crazy Babies are available in New Zealand.) And of course there is TNCC's current 'Bliss' range, which centres around berry-shaped jellies with an aerated base and an oozy centre. But the idea otherwise tends to come and go on the market.

Gossip: Mars Pods Cookies and Cream

As spotted in the current Coles catalogue, Mars Pods have put out a new flavour - Cookies and Cream.

Anyone else seeing a bit of a trend in these flavours lately? It's been a while since we've had a new flavour from Pods - the last was back in early 2012, with Honeycomb Pods - so it's good to see something new!

Let me know if you see it in the wild! lollyaddictaust@gmail.com

Mars Limited Edition Choc Loaded

Does this look familiar to anyone else? That would be because back in 2006 and 2011, Mars released a triple-choc version of their classic Mars Bar. Although I couldn't find even a picture of the release, a forum post from 2006 indicates that Mars Bar XXX (Triple Choc) contained chocolate nougat and chocolate caramel - which, if you take a look at the product description on the Choc Loaded bar that reads: "chocolate nougat and chocolate caramel covered in thick milk chocolate", is awfully similar!

Gossip: New M&M's, New Skittles Tropical and new Starburst!

It's all happening at the moment!

Reader Chris has already spotted the brand new M&M's seasonal release in the wild, and the flavour is 'Vanilla Shake'.

Interesting! I love vanilla so I'm looking forward to reviewing it! Thanks for sharing, Chris!

In addition, Starburst (distributed by Wrigley's) also have not one, not two but three new releases out on the shelves already! Photographed below is 'Very Berry Chews', 'Snakes and Ladders' and 'Noughts and Crosses'. The latter two are an interesting play on the classic games.

I didn't even know Skittles were releasing a new seasonal release, but I suppose it is that time of year! New 'Tropical' flavour mix is in a bright blue package. Have you tried it yet?

Lastly, I have new releases from Lindt and The Natural Confectionery Company that will be reviewed very shortly - stay tuned!

Lindt HELLO Cookies & Cream

The third installment of the new Lindt HELLO chocolate range is Cookies and Cream. This is an common flavour in the market - most brands have tackled it in one version or another - so let's see if Lindt's creation is better than the others.

Lindt Excellence Cherry Intense

Lindt is well-known for their quality Swiss-made chocolates, and also for interesting flavour additions to their chocolate block range. The Excellence 100g blocks have a wide variety of flavours; some that I have reviewed in the past include Passionfruit Intense and Strawberry Intense. One of my favourite flavours in this range is the Touch of Sea Salt blocks, where tiny grains of sea salt beautifully complement the rich dark chocolate.

Lifesavers Tangy Tingles

Lifesavers is an international brand, distributed in Australia by Nestle. Around the world, the brand has different variations beyond the compressed confectionery rolls. In the US, for example, Lifesavers have a branch of gummies, available in boxes and bags. The Lifesavers products are a tried and true product, and it's common to go years without seeing a new flavour or update to the range. The last major revival I remember was around five years ago, when the size of the roll increased by 50% (and so did the price). I can't remember the last time I saw a new flavour. Enter Lifesavers Tangy Tingles.
