Nestle Aero White has been around for a couple of months now, but it's taken me a while to get my hands on one for reviewing as it hasn't turned up in supermarkets. It may be some sort of exclusive to smaller sellers - mostly the petrol and convenience sector, as that's where I found it for sale.
Head on down for more!
Earlier this year we saw that Nestle had changed the mould shape of their Aero bars, from rectangular pieces to a squared off and rounded design. This is the first time I've seen the new mould in person. There are ten 'bubbles' in the bar, and at its peak each bubble is about 1.3cm tall. The new bar shape also has rounded corners to continue on with the roundness of bubbles.
As the name suggests, Aero White is a mix of white and milk chocolate,
with the aerated centre being made from the white choc. (Note the use of
the word 'choc' - in the confectionery world this means that it's not
real chocolate. Anyone remember Kit Kat White?) The outer layer of milk chocolate is thin, but has kept the bar in good shape (despite mine being slightly head affected).
In the mouth, the aerated bubbly centre gives a brief sensation of texture before chewing. The white choc centre has a strong milky taste with a hint of vanilla to warm it up. The outer layer of milk chocolate is nice, with a nice depth that is not too sweet. I did find that the white centre tended to overwhelm the milk chocolate slightly, moreso on the centre pieces than the corners.
Overall I found this bar quite enjoyable. While it was definitely sweet, it had enough flavour in it to keep it interesting. I'm a little disappointed that this will be a limited edition as I'd like to see it available everywhere.
Score: 4.5 out of 5 stars.
Nestle Aero Limited Edition White is made in Australia. It contains milk, wheat and soy, and is made on equipment that processes products containing peanuts and tree nuts.
