Cadbury Marvellous Creations Toffee Nutters

Cadbury's Marvellous Creations range just keeps on growing! In the brand new bitesize bags, the brand has just released three new flavours. We've already looked at Caramel Shakes - now, it's Toffee Nutter time.

Described as 'peanut butter flavoured drops with toffee crunch, covered in Cadbury Dairy Milk milk chocolate', Toffee Nutters aren't a huge revelation in terms of flavour. Peanut butter and chocolate - meh, the Americans have been doing that for years. It's a sort of new flavour concept here in the great land of Aus, though - Reese's Peanut Butter Cups are available in most stores (albeit as imported stock), and a couple of local brands have tried the combo, but it hasn't really taken off here amongst the general public. Maybe Cadbury's version will rock some socks.

Like Caramel Shakes, Toffee Nutters are little bitesize morsels, a bit bigger than an M&M. The shape on these is decidedly less pretty though, probably due to the sticky nature of the peanut butter-style centre. They are panned nicely though, with a bright, glossy finish. They're just a bit misshapen. Poor little Nutters.

The bag has a strong salty, peanut scent. It's definitely more PB and less chocolate here. The bites have an interesting texture. It's very similar to a Reese's Peanut Butter Cup - firm, but slightly crumbly. You could almost believe the centre is real peanut butter through its appearance. It's rather salty, but smooth except for the toffee pieces. Despite the initial scent it's not a strong peanut flavour. The sweetness of the chocolate does a fair bit to counteract the flavour. It would be interesting to taste these in bigger proportions, of more centre and less chocolate. The toffee pieces are barely noticeable, except to add a little crunch here and there. The back of the pack says the toffee has been salted, which could contribute to the strong salty flavour.

Chocolate and salt is my current thing, and I've always been a fan of the PB and chocolate combo, so these rate highly for me, but I know that it's not a match that works for everyone. What do you think of these?

Score: 5 out of 5 jelly beans.

Cadbury Marvellous Creations Toffee Nutters are made in Australia. They contain peanuts, milk, soy and wheat glucose syrup. They may contain traces of tree nuts.

  1. Sounds nice, but I wish Cadbury would just make a regular peanut butter Dairy Milk bar.
